Kendall & Eldred Railroad

History

The Kendall & Eldred Railroad was a narrow gauge line chartered in Pennsylvania in 1877 to build an 18 mile long railroad almost due east from the town of Tarport (East Bradford) to the town of Eldred. Construction started in April 1978 and the line began operation on July 30, 1878.

The Kendall & Eldred was operated in conjunction with Olean, Bradford & Warren Railroad and the two shared crews for both passenger and freight operations. J. W. Watson was superintendent of both roads.

The line was sold in 1883 to the Buffalo, New York & Philadelphia Railway for $300,000, more than twice the value of its capital stock.
