Portable Substations

This undated photograph shows Jamestown, Westfield & Northwestern portable substation
"C" at the Bemus Point station.
The Jamestown, Westfield & Northwestern converted
its cars 310 and 311 to
portable substations to be used along the line. The substations were primarily
used at Bemus Point and Mayville.
A May 1936 photo from the John Woodbury collection shows the portable sub station
at Bemus Point.
A February 1940 photo from the John Woodbury collection shows the second portable
sub station at Mayville.
