South Dayton, New York

South Dayton, New York is a village on the Buffalo & Southwestern branch of the Erie Railroad. The station still stands and has even appeared in major Hollywood films.  In "The Natural", the restored South Dayton depot is where Robert Redford embarks on the train at the beginning of the movie. The 1913 map below shows the location of the Erie Railroad line and the depot in relation to the village.

The two photographs above from the Syracuse University Library collection show the South Dayton station in 1909.  The photo below shows the station as it existed in 1996.
