The first passenger station in Jamestown was built in 1865 by the Atlantic and Great Western Railway, a predecessor of the Erie Railroad. The station was a plain, two-story wooden station at the foot of Cherry Street. The station lasted until 1897 when it was replaced by an ornate brick station. The map at the left shows the general layout of the area in 1886. The passenger station is to the North (left) of the tracks in the box marked "A". The circle in box "B" is a water tower and the freight station is in box "C". Click anywhere on the map to bring up a higher resolution version of this map. Newspaper Articles
