The following photos were taken during the summer of 1997 and how far the former Erie Railroad main line has deteriorated. The track west of Jamestown has been placed out-of-service and Jamestown itself sees only an occasional short freight.

This photograph shows the former Erie mainline stretching east into the rising summer sun. The single rusty track is a far cry from the high ballast and double-track mainline which hosted the Erie Limited and other great trains.

This photo was taken looking west from the Washington Street bridge and shows the track side of the old passenger station to the right of the tracks. The white building farther down the track is the old car repair facility.
