Batavia, New York
Batavia, New York is a village in the center of Genesee County approximately midway between Rochester and Buffalo. The drawing below is based on a 1919 Sanborn fire insurance map and shows the various railroads around Batavia. The Erie Railroad is shown in green, the New York Central in blue and the Lehigh Valley Railroad in red.

New York Central
Batavia was a significant junction for the New York Central in Western New York. Three branches connected to the main line in the village. The Attica Branch ran south from Batavia to the village of Attica, the Batavia and Canandaigua Branch ran from Batavia to Canandaigua, and the Tonawanda Branch ran from Batavia to Tonawanda.


Erie Railroad
Batavia was a village on the Erie Railroad's Attica branch that ran from Avon to Attica.


Lehigh Valley
Batavia was a stop on the Lehigh Valley's main line to Buffalo.
